2022-2023 Highlights

EPhi's fall 2022 Recruitment was a strong success with NOAC's support
Epsilon Phi-Loyola recruited 18 new members in September 2022, which was 3 over the quota of 15!  Congratulations on a job well done by EPhi collegians, and their dedicated Adviser Team Chair (ATC) Savannah Chamblee and Recruitment Adviser Joelle Thompson!  Epsilon Phi nationwide alumnae and our New Orleans Alumnae Chapter supported their Recruitment. Due to a decrease of participation in Greek Life at Loyola  during the pandemic, EPhi and other Greek organizations saw a large decline in membership over the last few years. This put a strain on EPhi's budget for supplies, snacks, beverages and meals during Recruitment preparations and parties. Many EPhi alumnae and NOAC members stepped in to assist, generously contributing their volunteer time, funds, and resources to assist however needed - including serving many meals! - to ensure that collegians could enjoy recruitment week without the stress of these additional costs and tasks.  It was a wonderfully rewarding experience to see what we could make happen when we worked together and shared our blessings. The collegians were gracious as ever, sharing hugs and kindness, and offering to assist with set-up and clean-up amidst their many other responsibilities. They greatly appreciated our support, especially when alumnae came to participate and engaged with them, laughing and learning side by side.

A huge THANK YOU to many, including:

"WOW what an amazing recruitment this was. I can wholeheartedly say that so much of my stress relief came from the alumnae support I experienced. It may seem silly, but let me tell you that these girls get angry when they don’t get good food… and it shows! They were ecstatic after every single meal throughout this recruitment. There was an alumna present at all times and the second they saw my face only slightly have a worried look, I was asked what I can get help with. I cannot express my gratitude to you all enough, and I would love for this connection to continue!"

NOAC recruitment support goes beyond the parties!
"Do Good Rejuvenation"

Alumnae gathered at the condo building of Katy Reynolds, Gamma-UC Berkeley, to make “Do Goodie Bags” for Epsilon Phi collegians. The bags contained a variety of snacks contributed by alumnae and coordinated by Megan Layman, Epsilon Phi-Loyola.  Alumnae gave the bags to collegians at the “Mock Recruitment” event.

    “Mock Recruitment”
Alumnae assisted by role-playing as PNMs (prospective new members) with collegians, exchanging questions and answers to prepare for the upcoming Recruitment parties.  The collegians were very receptive to the feedback from the alumnae, who also learned more about the Epsilon Phi chapter and members.  We shared a wonderful learning experience together!

Philanthropy, Sisterhood and Preference “Recruitment Parties”
Recruitment is different now than many of us might remember from our collegiate days. Collegians sing many of the same songs we remember, as well as some new ones. Recruitment rounds are now dedicated to the themes of Philanthropy, Sisterhood and Preference. Attire for Epsilon Phi collegians included t-shirts for Philanthropy-round parties, shades-of-blue outfits for Sisterhood-round parties, and dressier black attire for Preference parties.  Their glowing smiles shared the happiness they feel for Epsilon Phi!

Round 1: Philanthropy focuses on sharing information about the many ways Delta Gammas Do Good to support the DG Foundation and our local philanthropies. PNMs watch a DG video and have the opportunity to talk to collegians about many aspects of the sorority and philanthropies.
Round 2: Sisterhood gives the PNMs more time with collegians to gain insight about the chapter and what it means to be a member.  A video created by members shows PNMs what it is like to be a Delta Gamma Sister!
Round 3: Preference is when Recruitment becomes more of a serious time. During this round, collegians and PNMs make decisions as to who will be new members of their chapter. Discussions are more in-depth and the atmosphere is lovely, subtle and beautiful! Picture draping and white twinkling lights courtesy of Kate Harrison, Delta Pi-Southern Mississippi.

“Bid Day” finally arrived September 26th, and excitement was in the air throughout the Loyola Quad! The four sororities of Loyola each took a corner for their members to gather, dressed in themes with signage to direct PNMs to meet them.  PNMs came dashing from the Danna Center with bids in hand to collegians awaiting them with smiles and hugs of sisterhood. DG bags filled with goodies were shared with the PNMs, and lots of photos were taken with the collegians dressed adorably in “Sweet Home DG” themed outfits!

After the special Pi Alpha Ritual Ceremony, collegians and new members attended a Bid Day celebration at the home of their Member Education Adviser Jennifer Bernard, Epsilon Phi-Loyola. The house was decorated in theme, including lots of pink and blue - so much so that neighbors inquired if there might be a gender reveal party happening!  It was a wonderful evening for swimming and sisterhood as Epsilon Phi increased their membership to over 50 members.

Epsilon Phi’s Inspiration and Initiation weekend was in November, and alumnae were in attendance for the enjoyable post-Initiation Celebration hosted by Epsilon Phi alumna Catherine Giroir. It was a wonderful experience for everyone to share together!

How can Alumnae Continue to Support Epsilon Phi and Get Involved in 2023?
Click to sign up for the Epsilon Phi Alumnae Committee for planning the 40th Year Reunion 2024!

Do you have connections for graphic design, donating raffle items, discounted cream color roses or other florals,  printing promo items, etc.?  Our budgets are tight, so any options for discounts are needed!

Offer a place to store and/or assist with the digitizing of the past Epsilon Phi photo composites!  There are about 30 or so large, framed composites with nowhere to store them.  The chapter uses a few of them during their recruitment, but otherwise there is no continuous use for these.

NOAC Officers Team – We need an EPhi alumna NOAC officer or EPhi Adviser to represent EPhi as our Auxilliary Officer.  Also, we have many other offices or chairs to share your input and talents!
